Modular skid-mounted water recycling system featuring pretreatment, biological treatment, MBR, and two-pass RO technology. Ten skid units operate in parallel for large-scale battery manufacturing parks, enabling rapid installation without civil construction while supplying reclaimed water for battery cooling and equipment cleaning.
Technical Specifications
This project was implemented in a battery energy storage industrial park in Morocco, featuring 10 independent skid-mounted water treatment units operating in parallel. The modular, standardized design allows each skid to be safely transported, unloaded, and assembled on site, making it ideal for North Africa's water-scarce environment.
Standard Process Flow

Large-Scale Skid-Mounted Water Reuse Project for an Energy Storage Industrial Park in Morocco
Located in North Africa, Morocco faces chronic freshwater shortages and increasing pressure on industrial water resources. During large-scale battery energy storage manufacturing, processes such as electrode washing, equipment cooling and plant cleaning generate significant volumes of wastewater containing trace organic solvents, heavy metals and dissolved salts. Direct discharge would not only violate local environmental regulations but also waste valuable freshwater resources, creating a major challenge for sustainable battery production.
To address the project's requirements for overseas transportation, limited on-site civil construction and rapid deployment, Baihuipu developed a modular solution consisting of ten independent skid-mounted reclaimed water treatment units. Each module was completely prefabricated and factory-tested before shipment, allowing the systems to be transported overseas in batches by flatbed trucks. Once delivered to the project site, the skids were positioned by crane and connected for operation without constructing large concrete treatment tanks, significantly reducing overseas installation time and adapting perfectly to North Africa's simplified construction conditions.
The integrated treatment process adopts a multi-stage approach to maximize water recovery efficiency. Wastewater first passes through screening and equalization to remove coarse solids and stabilize flow and water quality. Coagulation and sedimentation then remove suspended solids together with trace heavy metals and colloidal contaminants. Hydrolytic acidification followed by A/O biological oxidation effectively degrades refractory organic compounds and electrolyte residues, substantially reducing COD concentrations.
The biological effluent is further treated in an MBR membrane bioreactor, achieving efficient solid-liquid separation while eliminating the need for conventional secondary clarifiers and minimizing equipment footprint. After multimedia filtration, activated carbon adsorption and 5-micron security filtration, the water enters a two-pass reverse osmosis system, which removes dissolved salts and trace contaminants to produce high-quality reclaimed water. Following UV disinfection, the treated water is returned to the battery production facility for equipment cooling, process water replenishment and general industrial reuse, while concentrated brine is collected separately for compliant disposal.
Each skid operates independently or in parallel, enabling flexible capacity adjustment as production demand changes. Every unit is equipped with a dedicated PLC automation system featuring automatic chemical cleaning, intelligent chemical dosing, online monitoring and remote fault diagnostics, making the system particularly suitable for overseas facilities with limited maintenance personnel.
All equipment is CE certified and protected with corrosion-resistant coatings designed for the hot, dry climate and significant day-night temperature variations typical of North Africa. The standardized modular transportation and installation approach greatly simplifies overseas deployment while reducing project risks.
After commissioning, the system achieved a water reuse rate exceeding 75%, significantly reducing groundwater consumption while effectively controlling the discharge of heavy metals and organic pollutants. The project fully complies with Moroccan wastewater discharge and reclaimed water reuse standards and provides a highly replicable benchmark solution for turnkey modular water recycling systems serving large-scale battery energy storage manufacturing facilities across North Africa and other water-scarce regions.
