Chengdu Xinhai Gongcheng Technology specializes in semiconductor chip research, packaging, and precision manufacturing. Its production processes require a continuous supply of high-purity process water while simultaneously generating semiconductor process wastewater from equipment cleaning and manufacturing operations.
Following the implementation of GB 39731-2020 – Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Electronic Industry, the customer's existing treatment facilities were no longer capable of consistently meeting the new indirect discharge requirements. To ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining reliable production water supply, the company required a fully integrated solution combining wastewater treatment and industrial pure water production.
Based on the plant's operating conditions and the latest regulatory requirements, BHP designed a comprehensive water treatment system consisting of a 2 m³/h wastewater treatment facility integrated with a 32 m³/h industrial pure water production system.
The wastewater treatment process begins with an equalization tank that balances flow and wastewater characteristics, minimizing hydraulic and pollutant fluctuations. The wastewater then undergoes precise pH adjustment and neutralization, followed by the addition of specialized coagulants to remove suspended solids, fine organic contaminants, and colloidal particles through coagulation and clarification.
After clarification, the treated water passes through a series of multimedia filters, activated carbon filters, and precision cartridge filters, providing advanced polishing and ensuring consistent compliance with the indirect discharge requirements specified by GB 39731-2020.
The accompanying 32 m³/h industrial pure water system supplies high-quality process water for semiconductor manufacturing, precision cleaning, and related production processes, helping maintain product quality and manufacturing yield.
Both systems are integrated into a compact, fully automated platform featuring PLC-based intelligent controls, automatic process management, and unattended operation. The integrated design minimizes operating costs while providing reliable long-term performance.
Since commissioning, the project has consistently achieved stable wastewater discharge fully compliant with GB 39731-2020, while continuously supplying high-quality industrial pure water for production. The integrated solution has enabled the customer to successfully meet environmental inspection requirements, improve production reliability, and achieve simultaneous compliance in both water supply and wastewater management.
Today, the project serves as an excellent reference for integrated wastewater treatment and pure water systems for small and medium-sized semiconductor manufacturers in Chengdu and throughout Southwest China.
